Sleeping through the night...

Like many first-time parents, Pat and I made the decision to co-sleep with Savannah. For non-parents that means to keep her in our bed and make her crib a foreign concept.
It worked for the time I was breast feeding, but has since become a dangerous situation as we worry that Savannah will now wake up and take a trip (translated - bad fall) over the side of the bed.
Last night I did what every parent dreads doing... I forced Savannah to cry herself to sleep in her own bed. It took about 1.5 hours and I ended up going in there several times and patting her until she finally fell asleep.
Now it's almost eight hours later and she's still asleep!
I went in there to check and make sure she was OK and she was fine.
I just hope I have the strength to do it again tonight... everyone promises me that she'll sleep on her own after a few nights of crying.
We'll see....

Oh my gosh I can only imagine how hard that is for you to take, listening to her cry, and knowing you are trying to do the best for her but she doesn't understand! Good luck with it. I'm sure you'll both be pros at toughing it out after a few days.

She will do fine, I know it is hard, it was sooo hard to put Shayla down and make her go to sleep on her own without me rocking or holding her. But you will see that she will sleep so much better in her crib and won't wake as easily.

Good Luck!
