A different "gray" boy...

I was cleaning up the kitchen tonight and noticed our flood light came on... so I peeked out the back door and noticed we are feeding a different kind of "gray" boy.
An opossum was feasting on the dry food we put out for the stray cats! I snapped a few photos through the door.
Pat saw the little creature a few weeks ago, but this was the first time I saw him... and since the door was closed and locked, he didn't scare me.
It did remind me of my childhood years when I opened up the door to my aunt's office and saw four pairs of beady opossum eyes! Apparently the creatures had fallen through the ceiling and into the office.
My aunt called an old lady who captured them for her Sunday dinner... and no, I'm not joking! Apparently they were common food during the Depression (according to a quick Internet search).
I'm so glad we have that flood light!

I'll never forget this. When I was at my first apartment in Fayetteville I was feeding some stray cats who lived in the complex and one night I was going out, maybe to take out some trash or something, and when I opened the door I saw this HUGE raccoon eating out of the cat bowl. I just freaked and ran back inside and shut the door. I don't know why it scared me so much, just because I wasn't expecting to see it inches from my door and it was sooo big!
